Description Peter Müller 2019-05-11 10:05:52 UTC
After changing to MaxMinds new GeoIP DB format, the special country codes A1, A2, EU and AP are unusable on both existing and new installed systems.

On existing ones, they silently have no effect any more, on new installed systems, they simply will not show up.

Since some CDN IP space (such as Akamais) is located at "EU", this breaks quite some online services hosted there. Users can only choose between not accessing these servers any more, or disabling GeoIP based firewall rules.

MaxMind still provides information about all of these special country codes - they just changed its format. IMHO our scripts need to be adjusted to make these available again.

As far as I am concerned, there is no update on this.

But since we are making progress on libloc (https://lists.ipfire.org/pipermail/development/2019-October/006420.html), I do not assume there will be a fix before.

Not sure if anything can be done here. Probs not. Re-open if still valid.
