Triggered by: https://community.ipfire.org/t/how-to-backup-addons/4846 Since different problems and wishes are mentioned there it could be useful to split this up in the future (umbrella bug?). For a start, I have tried to summarize the ideas and requests reported. Feel free to add what I missed. From top to bottom: Usability: "...(icons) are not really self-explaining or distinguishable." => https://community.ipfire.org/t/how-to-backup-addons/4846/3 Altering of config files and feature request: "...I guess none of my addons “do a backup". It would be useful if there was a way to at least backup the list of addons that are installed so I don’t have to guess when my firewall dies and I have to build a new one." => https://community.ipfire.org/t/how-to-backup-addons/4846/5 E.g. => Sample user script for saving the list of installed addons: => https://community.ipfire.org/t/how-to-backup-addons/4846/9
Usability: There is a newer post in that thread that shows very nice icons. https://community.ipfire.org/t/how-to-backup-addons/4846/16 Addons: +1 for backing up the list of installed addons. When a backup file is restored (especially when using an ISO), the user should be asked "Install all previous used addons?"
