Description Edgar Wiesmann 2020-09-18 14:56:13 UTC
After upgrading a virtualized installation of IPFire to "IPFire 2.25 - Core Update 149" openvtools don't start anymore...

Symptom:
    [root@hostname ~]# /etc/init.d/openvmtools restart
vmtoolsd is not running... [ WARN ]
IPFire is not running in a virtual machine.

Search for reason:
    [root@hostname ~]# /usr/bin/vmware-checkvm
/usr/bin/vmware-checkvm: error while loading shared libraries: libtirpc.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Solution:
    install package "libtirpc-1.0.2-2"
Comment 1 Michael Tremer 2020-09-18 16:21:46 UTC
Could you please manually install the package libtirpc?
Comment 2 Edgar Wiesmann 2020-09-21 14:50:08 UTC
Hi Michael,

I had already installed the package manually and from then on the openvmtools service started normally.

That's why I specified this approach under "Solution:" ...

Thank you for the feedback

Edgar

A patch has been submitted for Core Update 151, but could not be merged into the main repository yet, because of next still being blocked by Core Update 150:

I assume this issue has been resolved with Core Update 151. If it has not, please reopen this ticket.
