Description Tom Rymes 2017-12-04 23:44:00 UTC
I have a unit that I would like to deploy for use as a branch office firewall, but I require support for the QCA9377 Wifi Chipset it uses.

If possible, I would like to see the updated ath10k driver from kernel 4.4+ backported to allow this card to be used, ideally along with its firmware.

I marked the severity as "Major Usability", as it is for me on this one device, but clearly this is not affecting a wide swath of the userbase, so my apologies if I should have picked something else.

I should add that, using the test 4.29 kernel posted by user "trikolon" does allow me to make use of this card, but, for obvious reasons, I do not want to use that kernel in a production environment (though it sure does seem a lot snappier!).

Arne is working up rebasing IPFire on Kernel 4.14. There is currently a testing version of that available. Would you be able to test if that is working for you?

I guess this kernel will arrive in IPFire in Q1. So far I have been running it for a bit more than a week without any major issues.

Whoops! I posted that the new kernel had fixed this in the forum thread, but I had not put anything up here. The new kernel does provide support for this chipset. https://forum.ipfire.org/viewtopic.php?t=19956
