QOS Settings

My Internet Connection are an Cable Connection with 450 Mbit Down and 20 Mbit Up. It is an Unitymedia Business Access with Static IPv4. I Use an FritzBox 6490 in Bridge mode with an IPFire Eco Appliance.

When i activate QOS, there are an limitation of Download speed up to 50%

There are no other Services running... Michael Tremer has been able to watch live...

Without QOS there are full Speed...

As a status update I can report that I have been searching for a potential bottleneck which is in the scheduling of the kernel itself. Network packets are processed by all CPU cores at the same time. To account for the packets that have been passed there are counters which have to be synchronised between all those cores that are handling packets. On some hardware with smaller bandwidth between the cores, this can become a bottleneck if the system is forwarding packets at a high rate.

Arne is working on a kernel update to Linux 4.9. We might be lucky that his carries some significant improvements. Please stay tuned until that is available.

Please have a look at the upcoming Core Update 111 which will be released for testing in a few days:

http://planet.ipfire.org/post/ipfire-2-19-core-update-111-is-available-for-testing

Have a look at the QoS section in the changelog.

first test´s are done...

not really better than core 110. QOS still takes 20 MB/s of my possible Speed.
