Hi Team,

can you release in future releases a rtl8821au kernel modul for 5GHz AP mode?
I compile this modul after erery new coreupdate and i think this module can use everybody to setup an 5Ghz Wlan accesspoint on ipfire.

please see https://forum.ipfire.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=22287&p=122358#p122358 for futher information (in German) to compile this modul. This will work with ipfire2 from core 126 to 134 (and i think newer in the future).

Sorry for my english :)

Thanks and best regards

Olaf

I am not very keen on adding third-party drivers, because we won't be able to support them when we upgrade the kernel. Those are causing us a lot of pain.

However, Arne is the kernel maintainer, so I will leave this decision to him.

Hi Team,

What is the current status? Compiling the kernele module myself is no longer possible since kernel modules signing is activ.

Thank a lot

Olaf

Use this
https://git.ipfire.org/?p=ipfire-2.x.git;a=blob;f=lfs/rtl8812au;h=a2b9eaccbb990bc7d041c92a38e355bb927d00b9;hb=5138aaeb9bada2e6dc89bb0b5ea26b762efb1bdd
as base to compile a module. It's a similar module from realtek. Why they
have so much different drivers?

Important: The module works only whith kernel from the same build.
